Heelys Shoe Tricks

Heelys are a type of shoe that resemble a skateboard sneaker but also have wheels embedded in the heel. With Heelys, you can walk around normally or raise your toes up and glide on your heels. Heelys are popular with kids and once you get used to them, you can do different tricks to add to your fun.

Air Tricks

The air Heely tricks include mute air, judo air and method air. For the mute air trick, reach down in front of your legs with one hand as you skate and grab onto the opposite shoe. Bend the knee of the leg you are grabbing and continue to skate while you hold on. On the judo air trick, you reach behind to grab the opposite shoe, bend your knee on that leg and keep the other leg straight as you skate. For the method air trick, reach down and hold onto the shoe on the same side of your body.

360s

To do a 360, skate along, then rotate your foot as if you are about to turn. Continue to turn around, letting your back foot follow the front until your feet switch and it becomes the front foot. Continue your turn until the back foot becomes the front foot again and you are skating in the same direction you came from.

Switching and Shuffling

Switching and shuffling are basic Heely moves, but you must learn them to progress to more complex tricks and movements. To switch, change the position of your feet as you skate along. Move your front foot to the back at the same time you move your back foot to the front. To shuffle, change places with your feet as in the switch, only stay in one spot as you do it.

Pipeline

To perform the pipeline, skate along normally and rotate your front foot and body like you are about to turn. Slide your lead foot to the side so you face sideways. Point your toes outward so your feet are parallel and your heels face one other. Keep your knees straight during the trick.

Hand Plant

The hand plant is an advanced movement that may take timing, balance and a ramp to master. Skate to the top of the ramp and position your hands on the edge. Kick yourself up into a handstand, hold it for as long as you can and then drop back down onto the ramp and skate off backward.
