Costco Wholesale Corporation is a membership warehouse retail company that carries everything from baby food, to tires and lawn furniture, to electronics and meat. The store's company brand name items are sold under the Kirkland brand. While many non-perishable items are sold through the company website, you must be a member to purchase food, such as frozen yogurt.

Feature

Eating at the store in the company food court is part of the warehouse shopping experience for many people. The Costco food courts serve fast food, such as hot dogs, pizza wraps and soft serve frozen yogurt. A 12-oz serving of vanilla and chocolate soft frozen swirl yogurt in the food court has about 390 calories. Combine that with a slice of combo pizza at 775 calories and you've consumed most of your calories for an entire day.

Benefits

Eating frozen yogurt from the carton is more efficient if you're counting calories. You can read the serving size and calorie count on the Kirkland labels, which follow the FDA guidelines for nutritional labeling. For example, a 1/3-cup serving of Costco's signature non-fat chocolate frozen yogurt only has 100 calories -- well within the range of an acceptable snack for dieters.

Other Nutrients

You can count on non-fat frozen yogurt to satisfy your sweet tooth while providing you with about 10 percent of you daily calcium needs with the Costco signature chocolate single serving of frozen yogurt. Though it's fat-free, it does have about 18 g of sugar and 60 mg of sodium. The treat adds 21 g of carbs to your diet and 3 g of protein.

Considerations

Sweets and dairy products can be included as part of a nutritionally balanced weight loss diet if you stick to the single servings out of the carton and choose low-fat and non-fat options. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, as long as your triglyceride levels are within normal range, you can indulge in small amounts of the frozen yogurt treats.

Comparisons

Costco brand frozen yogurts served out of the carton according to single serving sizes are comparable in calorie count to most commercial frozen yogurt products. According to My Fitness Pal, you'll eat 160 calories in one-half cup of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia Lowfat Frozen Yogurt that also has 3 g of fat. A 1/2-cup serving of Edy's fat- free vanilla frozen yogurt is about 100 calories and 1/2 cup of TCBY nonfat soft serve frozen yogurt is 130 calories with 1.5 g of fat.
