Football Tournaments for Kids

Football is one of America's most popular sports. Players begin playing football as young as elementary school and are able to develop their skills at a very young age. As a result, there are thousands of talented youth football players across the country. Many youth football organizations have taken advantage of talented youth football programs -- ranging from elementary to high school-aged -- and are using tournaments to showcase talented kids around the country.

NYFC Tournament

The NYFC Tournament is the National Youth Football Championship Tournament. This tournament is typically held over Thanksgiving weekend. Two tournaments take place: an Eastern Division Tournament and a Western Division Tournament. This tournament is the largest weekend tournament in the U.S. and has been in existence for the last 28 years. More than 200 youth football organizations from across North America participate in this weekend. Youth teams of all ages can participate -- elementary to high school teams. Teams are grouped according to age.

AIYFC Tournament

The American Invitational Youth Football Championships bring a postseason atmosphere to teams across the United States. Teams receive an invite to a five day football event in Tampa, Florida. This tournament occurs during Thanksgiving week. All invited teams must have played the entire season together, and meet the current age and weight requirements. Teams can be affiliated with the YMCA or Boys and Girls Clubs. Players must have proof of insurance to play. Teams play for trophies in all divisions. Divisions are based on age groups. Kids from elementary to high school are eligible to compete.

Pigskin Tournament

The National Youth Football League conducts a Pigskin Tournament annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament is always held on Thanksgiving weekend. Founded in 2002, the Pigskin Tournament has nearly 80 teams who participate. The Pigskin Tournament matches teams based on age -- elementary through high school teams- and skill levels. The event is held at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.

Hornet Football Classic

Played in Minnesota, the Hornet Football Classic showcases youth football teams from around the country. The tournament is held at the end of the summer. Tackle football teams with players in the fourth through eighth grade are eligible to participate. Teams are matched up by grade bracket. Each team is guaranteed to play two games. The Hornet Football Classic follows high school football rules.
