As the name implies, skateboard air tricks are performed while in the air. While some skateboard air tricks are performed off of ramps and large jumps, others are designed for stairs and smaller drops. Skateboard air tricks range from basic ollie's to advanced 360 spin moves.
Kickflip Trick
This kickflip trick is can be performed while in a static position or coming off of a jump. Start with your back foot on the back tail of the skateboard. Place your front foot directly in the middle of the board. From this position, push down on the back of the board so the nose comes up off the ground. As the nose comes off the ground, kick your front foot out and to the side of the board, flipping the board all the way around before landing back down on it.
Varial Heelflip
This skateboard air trick is designed to get you to rotate your board in mid air using your back heel. Start by getting on your skateboard in a basic stance. With your back foot on the heel of the board and your front foot in the middle of the board, shift your weight to the back of the board. Kick up with your front foot as if you are going to perform a kickflip. As soon as the board begins to rotate to the right, slide your back foot up and out to flip the board back in the other direction.
Hardflip
This air trick is designed to be performed off a jump or staircase. Start by getting momentum on your board and heading towards a descending staircase. Once you reach the top of the staircase, push down on the back of the board and slide up to ollie off of the stairs. As soon as you get off the ground, slide your back foot off of the board to perform a backwards flip of the board. Land on the board after one rotation and stick the landing.
Indy Grab
This trick will teach you how to perform a basic mid-air grab and land it. Start by getting some speed either in a half pipe or off a steep ramp. Once you come to the edge of the ramp, ollie up into the air. While in the air, rotate your body 180 degrees so that you are perpendicular with your original position. Reach down directly between both of your feet and grab the board. Rotate back to your original position and land the trick.
