NordicTrack and ProForm brands are made by the same company, Icon Health and Fitness. Icon is the largest equipment manufacturer in the world. It makes other popular brands, such as Weslo, Weider and Reebok. ProForm treadmills are solid, affordable machines. NordicTrack treadmills are more expensive and more durable. The higher-end, more expensive ProForm models share many features with the NordicTrack treadmills.
Product Line
ProForm and NordicTrack offer a large selection of treadmills. As of December 2010, NordicTrack featured 16 models on its website and Pro-Form featured 14 models. NordicTrack treadmills ranged in price from $800 to $3,300. Pro-Form treadmills ranged from $600 to $3,000. Both brands categorize their treadmills by series. Pro-Form has a Performance, Trailrunner, ProShox, Power and a Tech series. NordicTrack offers a Commercial, Elite, Incline, Reflex and an A series.
Design
Most of the NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills have fold-away designs. Store the treadmill in a vertical position when you are not using it. Several models for both brands feature the easy-lift assist system. A shock helps you lift the treadmill deck to store it. Both brands have similar weight limits on their treadmills. NordicTrack machines have limits between 325 and 375 lbs. ProForm machines have weight limits between 300 to 350 lbs.
Features
The inclines on NordicTrack and ProForm treadmills top out at 10, 12 or 15 percent, depending on the model. Both brands offer incline trainers. These treadmills have much higher incline capabilities. The NordicTrack incline trainers have a maximum grade of 40 percent. The ProForm incline trainers only go up to 20 percent. The speed range on NordicTrack machines is zero to 12 mph. ProForm treadmills have maximum speeds of 8, 10 or 12 mph. Both brands offer iFit technology on most of their treadmills. They also have built-in workout programs, although the number of programs differs based on the specific model.
Warranty
All NordicTrack treadmills have a lifetime warranty on the frame and motor. The parts are warranted for two, three or five years; labor is warranted for one or two years, depending on the model. All ProForm treadmills have a lifetime warranty on the frame. The motor is warranted for a lifetime or 25 years, depending on the specific model. The parts warranty is for one, two, three or five years, and the labor warranty is for one or two years. The more expensive models offer better warranties.
