Nutritional therapy will clear the body of yeast overgrowth. An ongoing healthy diet can also prevent recurrent problems caused by yeast. Yeast overgrowth can affect various organs and body systems, causing symptoms including urinary pain, frequent urination, vaginal discharge, diarrhea and a white tongue. If you have symptoms of yeast overgrowth, it may be time to make changes to your diet and eating patterns. If you want to make changes to your diet to clear the body of yeast overgrowth, it's important that you talk to your doctor first.

Step 1

Eat yogurt containing "live cultures" such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, a beneficial bacteria for intestinal, urinary and vaginal health. Beatrice Hunter author of "Probiotic Foods for Good Health: Yogurt, Sauerkraut, and Other Beneficial Fermented Foods," recommends eating a 4-oz. serving of yogurt a day, especially when experiencing a yeast infection.

Step 2

Drink milk products such as soy milk to clear yeast buildup in the body. The University of Maryland Medical Center suggests that people who have a calcium deficiency have recurrent episodes of yeast infections. You can get calcium by drinking milk, but the type of milk you drink may not help you clear the body of yeast overgrowth. Cow's milk or pasteurized milk doesn't contain healthy bacteria because the pasteurizing process kills all of the "good" and "bad" bacteria in the milk.

Step 3

Spice up your foods with cinnamon, sage, garlic, cloves and parsley. These spices help clear the body of yeast overgrowth, and they make nutritious foods tastier. Add spices to snacks as you would meals. Instead of grabbing an apple and eating it plain, slice it up and sprinkle cinnamon over the slices. It may take more preparation time, but this is one of the ways to change your eating patterns, as well as your diet.

Step 4

Avoid sugary and processed foods when you have yeast overgrowth or signs of a yeast infection. The Reader's Digest publication "Fight Back with Food: Use Nutrition to Heal What Ails You" suggests that a variety of spices have antibacterial properties and can help keep the "bad" bacteria in your body under control. Yeast feeds off of sugar, and yeast overgrowth becomes a bigger problem when your diet is high in sugar. Opt for sugar-free foods for snacks and eliminate white-flour foods such as breads.
