Grape seed oil is often used as a skin moisturizer, but is also recognized as a natural and effective relief of stomach upset and light to moderate constipation in babies. Many mothers prefer to use grape seed oil above many baby medications because grape seed oil does not irritate the stomach or intestinal lining as some medications do. Grape seed oil is a good source of vitamins and antioxidants, and it is also a source of some omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. If stomach upset or moderate constipation problems with your baby persist, consult a nutritionist or physician for advice.
For Babies Under 6 Months
Step 1
Pour 1 teaspoon of grape seed oil into a small bowl.
Step 2
Put a bib on the baby to avoid making a mess or staining her clothes.
Step 3
Use a baby medicine dropper to pick up the oil.
Step 4
Gently place the end of the baby medicine dropper into the baby's mouth and squeeze gently.
Step 5
Slowly feed the rest of the oil to the baby, being careful that she does not gag or choke on it.
For Babies Over 6 Months
Step 1
Put a bib on the baby to protect her clothes from spills and stains.
Step 2
Measure a teaspoon of grape seed oil and pour it into the baby bottle.
Step 3
Add up to one half cup of either prune or apple juice to the oil in the bottle. Prune juice will help to aid constipation.
Step 4
Give the bottle to the baby and let her drink the juice and oil mixture from the bottle.
Step 5
If the baby will not drink the juice and oil from the bottle, try the steps necessary for feeding a baby under 6 months and use a medicine dropper.
