When surfing television channels late at night, you may have come across infomercials for the Ab Swing. The Ab Swing claims to help users get the tight, sexy abdominal muscles that they want without having to get down on the floor for crunches. While your results may vary and the product is no longer manufactured, if you purchased one, using it properly is the best way to evaluate how good the product is. Operate it carefully so that you protect your body from strain or injury.

Step 1

Assemble the Ab Swing according to the manufacturer's directions. Make sure that you follow them carefully so that your Ab Swing is safe and sturdy.

Step 2

Move the Ab Swing to a solid and flat surface if you assembled it on something less than sturdy. Tile and hardwood are the best places to work with the Ab Swing. Carpet can have a high pile and make the Ab Swing unstable as you attempt to work out in it.

Step 3

Flip the seat down and turn the Ab Swing so that the seat is almost vertical. Place your bottom against the seat, leaning against it but still supporting the majority of your weight in your feet.

Step 4

Place your right foot into the foot straps and gently place some of your weight onto the foot. As you place the weight onto your right foot, lift your left foot into the other foot strap, so that your feet are completely off of the ground and your bottom is on the seat.

Step 5

Grip the handlebars so that they are comfortable and you don't feel like you're straining. Letting your abdominal muscles do the work, swing your knees up toward your chest to complete a sitting crunch. Release the position to complete one repetition.

Step 6

Complete as many repetitions as you can before fatiguing. Then, place most of the weight on your right hip and shift slightly to the side in order to complete work on your obliques. Complete the same crunching motion, but with an emphasis on your sides to address love handles.

Step 7

Dismount the Ab Swing carefully when finished a workout, and slide the swing down so that it stands in an almost vertical position to store it carefully.
