1. When it Rains, it Pours
Loss of urinary control can be extremely inconvenient and embarrrassing. Losing your urine in public before you can reach a bathroom can be a devastating experience for many people. The causes for incontinence can range from being pregnant and having too much pressure on the bladder to having a urinary tract infection or adverse effects from medication.
2. Laugh at Your Own Risk
When you're going through a brief period of incontinence or if you are prone to losing your water easily without notice, you'll want to beware of situations that can bring on a sudden rush of pee. Laughing suddenly at a good joke can be a killer. A hard cough can put enough pressure on the bladder to cause an accident. Stay away from people who think that tickling is fun.
3. Building as Fashion Plate
As usual these days, the baby boomers are driving the creation of adult diapers that will go with any outfit. To cover yourself when it's really important or when you visit a comedy club, try putting a little extra padding down below. No one has to know that you are wearing diapers if you get them in the right size to cover the spill without bagging. Wear loose-fitting clothes when you wear the diapers and relax.
4. Go Through dry Spells
While doctors can prescribe medications to help control the need to go, there are a number of natural remedies you may want to consider trying first. Kegel exercises will help to build up the muscles that control the urinary tract. Squeeze like you're holding in some gas and release. Do it quickly 15 times, twice a day to build those muscles. Do the squeeze and hold it longer at other times to strengthen the muscles. Add plant food that contains phytoestrogen to the diet to help with incontinence while adding a healthy component to a balanced diet. Food such as soy nuts, tempeh and tofu are good sources for this chemical.
5. Get it Checked out
Sometimes incontinence is a symptom of a much larger problem. If home remedies and lifestyle adjustments don't ease the frequency of water leakage, there could be a tumor growing in the pelvic area causing the frequent, uncontrollable urinating. Even a simple infection left untreated can lead to more serious diseases, which could have been avoided with a simple dose of antibiotics. Urinary stones will show up on a lab culture and an ultrasound can check the bladder and kidneys for injury or infection.
