Woodway and Star Trac produce high-end treadmills for professional and in-home use. Star Trac treadmills are styled and built like most other treadmills on the market. Woodway machines have a completely different design and style than other treadmills.

Star Trac and Woodway began making treadmills in the 1970s. Woodway makes treadmills for the military, professional and college sports teams and medical clinics. In December 2010, Woodway offered three treadmill models in its residential line. Star Trac produces commercial-quality treadmills for both commercial fitness centers and for residential settings. Star Trac features nine in-home models on its website.
Design
Star Trac treadmills are similar in design to other typical, in-home treadmills. The running deck is covered with a belt that rotates around as you run or walk. Woodway integrates the running area with the deck. Instead of a belt, the running surface is composed of individual slats with a vulcanized rubber surface. The slats rotate around the deck like the treads on a tank.
Specifications
Most Star Trac treadmills feature a 5 hp motor. Woodway treadmills have a 2 hp motor. Star Trac and Woodway treadmills are solid, heavy machines. These are not fold-away treadmills. Both brands of treadmills weigh between 325 and 450 lbs, depending on the model. Star Trac treadmills have a user weight limit of 500 lbs. Woodway treadmills have a user weight limit of 500 lbs. for runners and 800 lbs. for walkers.
Features
Woodway treadmills max out at 12.5 mph, with one model maxing out at 11 mph. Star Trac offers treadmills that go as high as 15 mph, although several max out at 12.5 mph. All three Woodway in-home treadmills have an incline range from 0 to 15 percent. Most Star Trac treadmills have the same incline range, although one model inclines up to 20 percent. The consoles on both brands have built-in workout programs and several data readouts.
