How to Lose a Lot of Weight Fast on Vegan Food

According to the MayoClinic.com, if you do not eat meat, you are likely to take in fewer calories and achieve weight loss. Vegetarians do not consume poultry, fish, beef and pork. On a vegan diet, you also avoid dairy products, such as milk, cheese and eggs. When you eat vegan food, you are likely to drop weight quickly as long as you avoid foods high in fat and calories.

Step 1

Choose low-fat proteins. Beans, lentils and brown rice can provide you with protein and still help you lose weight.

Step 2

Steer clear of breads, pasta and cereals made from refined flours. High-carb foods, such as white bread and pasta, are digested quickly and may make you feel hungry a short time after eating. Instead, choose whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta and whole grain cereals. Whole grains take longer to digest and make you feel fuller for longer periods of time.

Step 3

Drink soy beverages fortified with calcium. According to MyPyramid.gov, soy beverages are usually low in fat. Increased calcium consumption may also boost the metabolism and prevent fat storage. Dark green vegetables and orange juice are other sources of calcium on a vegan diet.

Step 4

Use unprocessed sugar in the sweets you consume. According to the vegan diet from Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin, you can eat organic chips and sweets made from unprocessed sugar and lose weight quickly. You should avoid processed sugar and artificial sweeteners in your vegan diet.

Step 5

Cook foods in a healthy manner. Frying vegetables in oils will not make you lose weight quickly. Instead, steam or grill vegetables to avoid adding excess calories and fat.

Step 6

Pick light and reduced-fat versions of foods. Peanut butter and tofu may add extra calories to your vegan diet. Instead, select reduced-fat peanut butter and light tofu to incorporate into meals.

Tips and Warnings

  • Remember to exercise when you are trying to lose weight on a vegan diet. Aim for a minimum of 30 minutes most days of the week participating in activities such as jogging, cycling, stair climbing and step aerobics.
