Gerber Organic Brown Rice cereal, made with natural, certified organic whole grains, is rich in several micronutrients, which are essential for healthy development. According to John Kirschmann, author of the Nutrition Almanac, whole brown rice is rich in B vitamins, calcium, magnesium phosphorus and iron, while white rice has no significant amount of B vitamins, unless it is enriched.

Considerations

Rice cereal is typically the first solid food given to infants because this grain is the least likely cereal to cause an allergic reaction of any kind. It is also the least likely to upset a baby's delicate digestive system. Giving organic brown rice, as opposed to milled white rice, provides additional nutrients as well as cleaner grains that are free of pesticides and other substances.
