Looking great takes more than just cutting calories. Losing weight and looking great entail taking care of the whole body from the inside out. Cutting calories alone gives no guarantee that you are getting proper nutrition or that your appearance will improve. While eating to lose weight, it is important not to neglect your skin or your physical activity. Losing weight and looking great involve an overall lifestyle makeover.
Step 1
Start the morning with a healthy and filling breakfast of oatmeal. Boil 1 cup water and add 1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal. Old-fashioned oatmeal undergoes less processing and is more effective at lowering LDL cholesterol. After the oatmeal has cooked for 3 to 5 minutes, pour it into a bowl and sprinkle it with 1 tsp. cinnamon. Cinnamon increases circulation and raises metabolism.
Step 2
Eat a low-calorie lunch of one slice toasted whole grain bread with a 1/4 small avocado used as a spread. Top the bread with one slice of tomato and a dash of pepper. Drink a cup of green tea. Green tea contains antioxidants and enzymes that help boost metabolism.
Step 3
Cook one tilapia fillet in 2 tbsp. tomato basil vinaigrette in a pan that has been spritzed with non-stick spray on the stove top. Cover with 1/3 cup fresh tomatoes and two chopped green olives. Serve with 1 cup cooked chopped spinach and 1/2 cup cooked carrots sprinkled with cumin.
Step 4
Fight cellulite and aging skin with coffee and olive oil. While in the shower, scrub thighs, stomach and other cellulite prone areas with strong coffee grounds, says Diane Irons, author of "911 Beauty Secrets: An Emergency Guide to Looking Great at Every Age, Size and Budget." Caffeine is an active ingredient in many cellulite creams. Follow the coffee scrub by patting the skin dry and applying extra virgin olive oil to the skin. Olive oil contains oleic acid which makes skin more permeable, smoother and younger looking.
Step 5
Partake in 30 minutes of aerobic exercise per day. This includes walking, jogging, running, biking and other similar activities. Aerobic exercise speeds metabolism for increased calorie burning and makes you sweat out toxins as well, helping you lose unnecessary water weight.
