The double chin is a nickname given to the accumulation of fat deposits on the underside of your jaw. This can occur as a normal product of weight gain, as the result of genetics and heredity, or it could be that your double chin is the product of aging and skin sagging. Whatever the cause, most individuals do not enjoy their double chin and want to get rid of it. The best approach to eliminating your double chin is through proper diet and exercise.
Step 1
Minimize the role of fats and sweets in your diet, and infuse it with fruits and vegetables. These have high water content and compounds such as collagen, which help improve the firmness of your skin.
Step 2
Eat healthy foods requiring heavy chewing, such as chicken, carrots, celery or sugar-free gum. These will work out the jaw and its muscles, toning them and hopefully reducing your double chin.
Step 3
Tilt your head to the right, hold you hand against the back of your head and gently push your head forward. Return your head to its normal sitting position while providing some resistance with your hand. Repeat on the other side. This is an exercise you can do while watching television.
Step 4
Drop your jaw as far as is it will go. Pull your bottom lip over your bottom teeth, and move your jaw up and down to work out the platysma muscle in your jaw.
