Wii Sports typically is bundled with the Wii gaming system. Wii Sports consists of a variety of games including tennis, baseball, boxing, bowling and golf. You create your own Wii character, called a Mii, and use the Wii remote to mimic the actual movements of the game you're playing.

Become the Pro

In order to reach a pro level, your Mii caricature skill level needs to reach 1,000 points If you're bowling, change the direction of your ball by pressing on the direction pad before releasing the ball. The golf game allows you to take practice swings before beginning the actual game; use these practice swings to master your swing before playing against your opponent. Power up your tennis shot by pressing the "A" button before serving the ball to catch your opponent off guard.

Connect Every Time

When playing your favorite sports, it's important to connect with every swing or hit that your Mii takes. Follow through with your movements just as you would in real life. The entire purpose of Wii Sports is to allow you to play the sport in the comfort of your own home without the hassle of rain, snow, cold weather or extreme heat. Performing the movements while sitting on the couch will not help you in any way. Stand up, take your stance or pose and then follow through with the same movements as you would if you were really rolling a bowling ball or punching an opponent.

Controlling the Remote

It's imperative that you always have control of the remote no matter which sport you're playing. To ensure the remote doesn't go flying out of your hand when you hit a home run or when you score a strike, secure the remote around your wrist with the wrist strap that comes attached to the remote. Serious injuries or accidents in the home, such as a broken television screen, could arise if the remote is not secure. It's not enough to just slide your wrist through the strap. You must secure the strap with a plastic tie piece to ensure the strap securely fits around your wrist and holds the strap in place. Even after you've secured the remote by tying the wrist strap, continue to keep a firm grip on the remote at all times.

Your Stance

For optimum performance, stand directly in front of the sensor bar while playing Wii Sports. If you stand closer than 3 feet or further away than 10 feet from the sensor bar, the motion detector may not notice your movement. Allow yourself plenty of room to play Wii Sports to ensure you won't trip over furniture, bump into another person or fall into the television.
