Play badminton with two players for a singles match or four players for a doubles game. The Badminton World Federation, an official badminton association, publishes the Laws of Badminton used in international tournaments. The best-of-three games -- each game is played up to 21 points -- makes up a match of badminton. A player or team must achieve a two-point lead to win the game until the score reaches a tie of 29-29. In this instance the next player to score a point is declared the winner.

Badminton World Federation

The Badminton World Federation is recognized as the world governing body for the sport of badminton by the International Olympic Committee. This badminton organization has its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The BWF regulates, develops, promotes and presents badminton worldwide, as well as operating and regulating a parabadminton commission and tournaments for physically challenged athletes. Members of the BWF include partnerships with five Continental Confederations and more than 155 National Badminton Federations.

USA Badminton

The American Badminton Association, with headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was organized in 1936. In 1978, the name changed to the U.S. Badminton Association and in 1996 the organization became USA Badminton when various badminton groups including programs from New York, Massachusetts and the West Coast, united to form one central organization. The USBA provides official rules and regulations for official games in the U.S., as well as organizing tournaments and electing players to the Hall of Fame.

Badminton Europe

Badminton Europe --- headquarters located in Broendby, Denmark --- originated in 1967 with 11 National organizations, including Finland and Germany. This badminton association represents, promotes and develops the game of badminton in Europe. Badminton Europe has more than 50 National Organizations as member countries, including Bosnia and Montenegro, in 2007. Development programs and activities sponsored by Badminton Europe to increase participation in the sport include certified instructor training and scholarships.

Badminton Australia

The national sports association for the sport of badminton in Australia is Badminton Australia, located in Williamstown, Victoria. Established in 1932, Badminton Australia its members include state and territory Badminton associations across the country. The mission statement for Badminton Australia includes providing sports services and programs ensuring the increasing participation in badminton and the international success of Australian players.

Badminton Canada

The official badminton association in Canada is Badminton Canada with its headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. This sports organization strives to enable Canadian Athletes, Coaches and Official to contribute to badminton becoming the most successful racket sport in Canada. Badminton Canada strives to develop male and female badminton athletes to be amongst the best in the world, achieve top 16 BWF rankings and win a medal in the 2020 Olympic Games.
