How to Set the Stride on a Pedometer

A pedometer is a device used to calculate how many steps are taken throughout the day. After calculating the amount of steps taken, the dieter can calculate how many calories are burned. The pedometer is also a good device to evaluate how active you are during the day. Part of properly configuring the pedometer is entering the length of your stride.

Step 1

Measure your stride length using the tape measure. Lay the tape measure on the floor and stand at the zero mark. Stand up straight and take a normal step forward with one foot. Take note of the distance from the heel of the foot forward to the heel of the foot at the zero mark. This is the length of your stride.

Step 2

Click the "Mode" button on the Pedometer. Choose the "Distance" section for the unit measurement by toggling with the "Set" button. Once the setting is selected, hold the "Reset" button for 5 seconds.

Step 3

Hold the "Set" button in the "Distance" mode to configure the length of the stride. Once the display is blinking, set the length of the stride using the "Mode" button. Once the length is selected, hold the "Set" button to complete the configurations.

Step 4

Take a few steps to test the pedometer. For each step taken, the pedometer should display a new step in the display.
