Many golfers on the PGA tour use Callaway golf clubs. Callaway has traditionally been associated with game improvement clubs, but in recent years has become more competitive in the players clubs market. Callaway still produces many clubs aimed at making golf more enjoyable for the average player, but the introduction of forged irons in particular have changed the company's image. Whatever your skill level, there are Callaway clubs that are suited to your game.
Drivers
The Callaway FT Tour driver is designed for accomplished players. The center of gravity is positioned to create a penetrating trajectory usually preferred by stronger players who create more spin. The FT Tour is more workable than other Callaway drivers, a requirement for better players. It also performs well in terms of distance, as its Hyperbolic Face Technology creates higher ball speeds across the entire face. The average player should look at the FT-IZ driver, a more forgiving driver that received a gold rating in the 2010 "Golf Digest" Equipment Hot List. Callaway uses Polar Weighting to create stability through impact, helping you hit farther and straighter.
Woods and Hybrids
Callaway's Diablo Octane fairway woods are available in standard or Tour versions. The standard is designed for maximum forgiveness and distance, while the Tour version is geared more towards workability. Both versions feature Variable Face Thickness technology that helps increase the size of the sweet spot for greater distance across the face. Both the Callaway FT-IZ and Diablo Edge hybrids received a gold rating from "Golf Digest" in the 2010 Equipment Hot List. They are both forgiving heads that provide an easier alternative to long irons.
Irons
The Callaway X-Forged irons were designed for elite players. They are forged from 1020 carbon steel for a soft, responsive feel at impact. The head features a thin top line which appeals to better players. The X-Forged irons are designed with a Dual Notch weighting system, which moves the center of gravity throughout the set to create the ideal penetrating trajectory with each iron. Recreational golfers may prefer the X-24 Hot iron. According to Callaway, it's "the longest, most accurate X series iron ever." More weight is moved to the perimeters to create a forgiving club head, while the VFT technology increases ball speed across the face.
Wedges
Callaway X-Forged wedges were designed by "legendary clubmaker" Roger Cleveland, with input from PGA Tour players. They are constructed form soft 1020 carbon steel for improved feel, and feature a C-grind sole for "versatility in shot-making" around the greens. The X-Forged wedges feature large Mack Daddy grooves, "designed at the maximum depth and width" for maximum spin. The wedges are available in a New White Chrome or New Gun Metal Vintage finish.
