Your goggles are an essential component of your ski gear. Each year brings changes and improvements in technology that results in the production of new and improved goggles that are better able to protect your eyes, resist fog, look great and are simply more fun to wear.

Fit

According to SkiNet.com's review titled Six Great Goggles, the Bolle Fathom is a great goggle if you have a small face but still want uber technology. These goggles have photochromic lenses and an anti-fogging venting system that creates an air flow between the two layers of lenses. Another option if you need small fit goggles is any model from Church and State. The Tough Cookie has anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment on double-rounded lenses plus 100-percent UV protection, which makes them good in bright light.

If you have a medium to large face, try the Oalkey Wisdom, which is one of the Oakley A Frame styles. This brand offers 100-percent UVA, B and C protection with vents that allow air into the goggles to reduce fog and moisture.

Style

If fashion is your passion, you will be interested in the "Vanity Fair" fashion department's top choices for gorgeous goggles. They recommend the new Chanel goggles for their stylish impact and Smith Optic's Black Supernovas for their lens color. Another offering is the limited edition Veuve Clicquot by Smith Transit. The band of these goggles boasts the logo from the champagne company of the same name. Finally, Fendi is offering a pair of white mink goggles with a white frame and dark lens. These goggles are available in the Fendi stores in New York or Aspen. If you want to match your goggles strap to your ski clothes, consider the Anon Hawkeye with interchangeable straps. The goggles are vented, coated, fog resistant and offer round lenses. Plus, if you ski with a helmet these goggles easily integrate.

Lens

Smith I/O frame less goggles are a good option if you like goggles with an easy change of lenses. These goggles offer double layer Vaporator Carbonic-X mirror lenses for optimal vision plus a fog treatment that is micro etched into the lens. The lenses can easily be changed to accommodate light and weather conditions.
Zeal, along with Bolle and Julbo Revolution all offer photochromic lenses that change tint based on the ambient light. The goggles may also be polarized to reduce glare as well. Zeal offers a new phtochromic lens for low or flat light called the Xtreme Low Light. The lenses change from yellow to rose, which allows better terrain visibility.

Techno Extreme

According to Zeal, their new Transcend is the world's first GPS enabled goggle. The new model allows you to record your speed, altitude and vertical incline while skiing. Once your day is complete, you can download your times via the USB port on the goggles to your PC. The Transcend is available with either photochromic or polarized lenses and both have a wide vision frame. Way cool.
