Tae Bo is a complete fitness workout that works the upper and lower body by combining taekwondo, boxing and dance, set to hip-hop music. In 1975, Billy Blanks choreographed his workouts into a series of eight-count routines involving jabs and punches for the upper body and kicks and dance steps for the lower body. Blanks, a former Golden Gloves champion and seven-time world karate champion, invented Tae Bo as his personal training program. Tae Bo is a trademark of Billy Blanks Enterprises.

Benefits

Tae Bo upper-body workouts can strengthen and tone your arms, chest and shoulders. You can also achieve better posture, so that you will be standing up straighter. Using cardio bands and gloves can enhance your upper body Tae Bo practice.

Basics

The two basic upper-body movements are punches and jabs. Punches include the One Punch, a basic punch that boxers use. The Two Punch involves moving your arm across your entire body. There's also the power punch. The more power you put into the punch, the greater the results. The challenging part of Tae Bo is combining the punches and the sparring jabs in a prescribed routine.
