The Weight Capacity of a ProForm 630 DS Treadmill

ProForm no longer produces the 630DS treadmill. ProForm originally manufactured this model around 1999 and sold it through Sears. The 630DS offers advanced features, such as an incline power ramp, and iFit interactive technology. However, it does not have a high weight capacity when compared to newer ProForm machines.

Features

The 630DS is a motorized treadmill for residential use. Adjust the speed and incline settings with the control buttons on the console. This is a fold-away treadmill. The deck lifts and the unit can be stored in a vertical position. The handlebars have thumb pulse sensors so you can check your heart rate any time during your workout. The 630DS features iFit interactive technology, which allows you to connect the treadmill to your CD player or stereo. Purchase workout CDs and videos separately.

Specifications

The ProForm 630DS has a speed range of 1 to 10 mph and an incline range of 1.5 to 12 percent. The walking belt is cushioned to absorb some of the shock to your joints when you run. ProForm lubricates the walking belt at the factory so you never have to apply any lubricant or other substance. The 630DS has a maximum user weight of 250 lbs.

Precautions

ProForm lists the maximum user weight of the 630DS treadmill in the "Important Precautions" section of the user's manual. This limit protects both you and the treadmill. Excessive weight can cause drag on the belt and motor, prematurely wearing down these parts. If the motor drags, the belt may hesitate, possibly causing you to trip.

Treadmill-Ratings-Reviews.com warns that treadmill manufacturers tend to overstate weight limits. The website recommends using a treadmill that has a weight limit at least 50 to 75 lbs. more than your current weight.

Other ProForm Treadmills

Other ProForm treadmills manufactured in the late 1990s have the same 250 lb. weight capacity, including the T35 and the 625EX. As of January 2011, the user capacity on ProForm treadmills has increased significantly. The treadmills featured on the ProForm website all have maximum user capacities between 300 and 350 lbs.
