Natural appetite suppressants are a dieter's dream. Although dieting is an arduous task, foods that help with satiety make it simpler to resist overeating and breaking your diet. In addition, natural appetite suppressants may be safer tools than diet pills and starvation meal plans. Talk to your doctor about the safest ways to suppress your appetite.

Flaxseed

Flaxseeds are derived from the Linum usitatissimu plant. Both the seed and the oil are natural medical elements used to treat a host of ailments, such as ADHD, bladder infections rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol disorders of the heart and blood vessels and respiratory tract infections. Flaxseed supports weight loss because it is a natural appetite suppressant and a good source of dietary fiber and omega-3 fatty acids as well. Use caution when adding flaxseed to your diet, as it may increase bowel movements and cause gas, abdominal pain and other gastrointestinal side effects. Talk to your health care provider before using flaxseed as an appetite suppressant.

Apples

Apples are natural appetite suppressants because they contain lots of fiber and water, which helps create feelings of fullness. They are also a good snack choice because they're both tasty and easy to travel with. A medium size apple contains approximately 4 g of dietary fiber. To get the fiber-rich benefits, leave the skin on, as the insoluble fiber -- fiber that proves the bulk in the intestinal tract -- exists in the skin. The University of Illinois Extension recommends apples as a healthy, low calorie and inexpensive snack option.

Green Vegetables

Vegetables are a favorite food among dieters because they are safe to consume in large quantities, adding beneficial vitamins and nutrients with negligent calories. Green vegetables are purported to have a negative-calorie effect, meaning they require your body to burn more calories through digestion than it takes in. This is not a scientifically proved theory, however. Nevertheless, green vegetables, such as asparagus, broccoli and celery, are natural appetite suppressants because they contain large amounts of water and fiber.
