The field size for Little League baseball is different from that of regulation baseball in order to facilitate better games that match with the strength and ability levels of 9- to 12-year-old players. Regulations may be slightly different depending on your particular league; therefore, always consult the league handbook for exact dimensions required for your league.

Infield

Distance between bases in Little League is 60 feet. The foul lines extend past first and third base and should be at least 200 feet long. The pitcher's mound is 46 feet from home plate. A backstop behind home plate should be at least a radius of 38 feet from the plate.

Outfield

The outer edge of the outfield should be a radius of at least 180 feet from home plate between the left-field and right-field foul lines. A fence of 4 feet should be placed at this outer radius area to mark the home run line. Foul poles should be placed at the corners of this fence in line with the left-field and right-field lines.

Dugout

Dugouts should be placed 38 feet away from the field of play, on the third-base side for the visiting team and the first-base side for the home team. The bench for the dugout should be inset 10 feet from the start of the dugout area and span 20 feet. There should then be at 10 feet from the end of the bench and the batter's box.

Pitcher's Mound

The pitcher's rubber should be located 46 feet away from home plate. The pitcher's rubber should be 18 inches wide. The pitcher's mound area should be made of dirt and free from grass at a radius of 6 feet around the center of the rubber.
