You can lose weight with the Maple Syrup Diet, but it is a very restrictive fast and can only be followed for a short time frame. It is also often referred to as the Master Cleanse Diet. The ingredients that you consume while on the Maple Syrup Diet are meant to prevent hunger in order to help you burn excess fat. Since you are not consuming many calories on this diet, you should speak to your doctor first before starting it.
Step 1
Mix together one cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, one and a quarter cup of 100 percent pure Grade A or Grade B maple syrup, a teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and three quarts of cold water.
Step 2
Place the Maple Syrup Diet drink in three plastic bottles, 1 liter, after the ingredients have been combined. Before you drink the mixture, you will want to give the bottles a shake since the cayenne pepper has a tendency to rest at the top.
Step 3
Consume 8 to 10 glasses of the Maple Syrup Diet drink over the course of the day. When you feel hungry, you are instructed to sip the mixture. There is no set time schedule for when you can drink the concoction.
Step 4
Drink the concoction without any food for the next 3 days. On average, dieters follow the Maple Syrup Diet for 3 days in order to lose weight. Since it is a fast and you are only consuming about 500 calories per day, it is not healthy to follow the diet for an extended period of time.
