Callaway Golf and Nike Golf have been distributing and manufacturing golf equipment for years, offering clubs, apparel and other miscellaneous products to players of all talent levels. The Callaway X20 and Nike Slingshot golf irons are comparable sets of equipment with a few design and performance differences. Both sets can be purchased online or at your local golf club pro shop.

Specifications

The Nike Golf Slingshot irons are a mixed set of hybrids and traditional irons, whereas the Callaway X20 irons are all traditional clubheads. The Nike Slingshot 4 iron hybrid, which is the highest iron in the set, features 23 degrees of loft and a shaft length of 40.5 inches. The Callaway X20 irons feature a 3 iron option with 21 degrees and roughly 40 inches in length. Both club sets offer lower irons down to numerous wedge options including pitching, gap, sand, and lob. Lie angles and lofts are customizable per special order on each company's website or via a professional club fitter.

Nike Slingshot

The Nike Golf Slingshot iron series is geared towards the high-handicap or beginner golfer as a game-improvement set of clubs. The most recent edition of the Slingshot series, the Nike 4D, features a traditional-looking clubhead with a muscle-back design to provide the beginning golfer added distance. Each club features perimeter weighting to assist in consistent distance control on misshits and a lower center of gravity to help the player lift the ball into the air. Available in graphite or steel shaft models, the Slingshot clubheads have a dull metallic appearance with neutral colors and traditional feel at address.

Callaway X20

The Callaway Golf X20 iron line is meant for players with a low-to-mid handicap due to the forged-like clubhead design that will benefit the better player. The X20 clubheads have a high-gloss, shiny finish at address and feature patented Extreme Notch Weighting for added control throughout the swing. Additional Core Technologies push the clubhead's center of gravity beneath the ball to assist the player in lifting each shot off the ground or tee efficiently. The Callaway X20 irons are available in steel or graphite shaft models.

Considerations

The Nike Slingshot irons and Callaway X20 irons are meant for golfers of differing talent levels. The more experienced player would likely not benefit from using the Slingshot line, nor should the beginning player use the smaller-headed X20 irons. Speak to a licensed PGA teaching professional about more information on which club set would best fit your game.
