Overview

Cellulite is a skin condition that gives areas of the body a lumpy consistency, due to fat being pressed through web-like connective tissue in the body. Cellulite most commonly occurs in women in the legs, butt and hip areas, although it is possible to get cellulite in other areas, and men can have cellulite as well. Cellulite can be reduced by toning the muscles around the affected areas, according to the Mayo Clinic. Cellulite reduction exercises work best in conjunction with a nutritious diet, as weight loss can help prevent the appearance of cellulite.

Reverse Lunge

Step 1

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, with your feet flat on the floor.

Step 2

Hold one 5-pound hand weight in each hand.

Step 3

Place your right foot behind you, balance your weight backward so you are lunging on your right leg. Bend both knees so they are at a 30-degree angle, with your left foot flat on the ground, and your right foot with your weight on your toes.

Step 4

Hold for one breath, then return to standing with both feet flat on the floor, shoulder-width apart.

Step 5

Repeat 15 times, as suggested by Fitness Magazine, alternating legs.

Stair Calf Raise

Step 1

Stand on the first step at the bottom of a staircase, facing the stairs going up. Step backwards slightly so your heels are hanging over the back of the step, but your toes are engaged.

Step 2

Lift onto the balls of your feet so you are standing on your tiptoes.

Step 3

Hold this position as you breathe in and out one time.

Step 4

Lower the balls of your feet so your heels are back in the starting position.

Step 5

Repeat 10 times, as suggested by Fitness Magazine.
