Inline skating remains a great way to get exercise without having to put stress on your knees and joints. Aggressive inline riders take a different approach by executing freestyle tricks on ramps and rails. Aggressive inline models feature a specialized component known as the grind plate. The grind plate, which consists of a hard plastic construction, is located under the inline boots.

Ramps

Aggressive skaters utilize the obstacles housed within indoor skate parks. According to Rollerblade.com, aggressive inline riders perform aerial tricks off skate park ramps. Stand at the top lip of the ramp, known as the coping. Place the front wheels of your skates over the coping. Lean forward until your wheels make contact with the face of the ramp. Roll down the slope of the ramp to perform an elementary trick known as the drop in.

Rails

Aggressive street skaters use the grind plates to slide down large handrails. When learning new grinding tricks, practice on a flat rail at your local skate park. Skate towards the rail with an adequate amount of speed. Professional aggressive skater Kyle Nolte recommends bending your knees before jumping above the rail. Align the base plates over the rail in a perpendicular position. Slide the length of the rail while maintaining a low stance. Jump off the end of the rail to roll away from this basic inline trick.

Ledges

The ledge offers increased stability while learning new grinding techniques. Skate towards the ledge with a medium amount of speed. Bend your knees as you approach the ledge to balance your riding stance. Extend your legs to jump above the ledge. Align the grind plate your right skate onto the edge of the ledge. Lower your left hand to grab the edge of your left skate. Release your hand from your left skate as you reach the end of the ledge. Jump away from the ledge to complete an advanced grinding trick known as the fish brain.

Rotations

Aggressive skaters use rotations on ramps as well as rails and ledges. Practicing your rotations on flat ground will help you to get comfortable with the basic motions of the trick. Skate in a forward direction to increase your momentum. Bend your knees to compress your inline skating stance. Jump vertically while rotating your shoulders. Turn your head in the direction of the spin. Start with a basic 360 degree spin before moving on to more challenging rotations.
