Instructions for a Nike Heart Monitor Watch

The Nike Heart Rate Monitor Watch, the Triax, monitors your pulse during exercise. Heart rate monitoring allows you to work out at an intensity that will offer the most cardiovascular benefits. Along with heart rate monitoring, the Triax features time and date settings. If you have any difficulty operating the Nike watch, refer to your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer.

Step 1

Set the time and date on the Triax watch. Scroll to "Time" mode by selecting the left lower "Control" key on the watch. Hold down the top left button for three seconds to set the time. Use the top and lower right buttons to make your hour, minute and date selections. After you have finished entering the correct data, press the top left button once to exit the mode.

Step 2

Connect the tabs on the heart rate monitor strap. Press the tab in the center of the strap down until it remains flush.

Step 3

Wrap the chest strap around your body. It should rest below your pecs and on top of your rib cage. Secure the strap. It should feel snug enough not to slip, not so snug that you feel any discomfort. Sprinkle water over the grooves on the chest strap for optimal transmission of your pulse rate.

Step 4

Press the left lower "Control" button on the side of the watch. Toggle through selections until you land on the "Run" mode. Place the watch snugly on your wrist. Hit the top right "Start" button when you are ready to begin exercising. You'll notice the heart rate appear on the Nike watch's display screen.

Tips and Warnings

  • Nike also produces a heart rate sensor that can be placed in the sole of your shoe. The sensor transmits data to your iPod to give stats about your workout, including time, distance, heart rate and calories burned. You may set songs to automatically play on your iPod during your workout.
