Estrogen is a hormone secreted by the endocrine system in the body. It is used in the body to regulate female sex characteristics, preserve the health of bones, and estrogen is also involved in balancing mood disorders such as depression. In order to increase estrogen levels in the body, the focus needs to be on the health of the endocrine system and the gland which secretes estrogen, the ovaries.

Increase Estrogen Levels With a Nutritionist

Step 1

Visit a nutritionist. It is likely that she will ask you a series of questions to determine your current health state and the likelihood that your estrogen levels are low. She will recommend dietary changes and additions to help support your endocrine system so that it can produce additional estrogen for your body.

Step 2

Eat foods that are healing for the endocrine system. Foods such as artichokes, brewers yeast, yams, sweet potatoes, amaranth, buckwheat and pears are all recognized as being healthful for the endocrine system because they promote estrogen production in the body. Your nutritionist will advise which foods are best for you as well as how often and in what quantity you should consume them.

Step 3

Use herbs that support the endocrine system. Herbs recognized as healthful for the endocrine system include Gymnema sylvestre, dahlia, black currant seed oil, bitter melon, natto, annato and rapadura. Herbs can be taken as a supplement, packed into a capsule, or made into tea and they are safe to consume daily. Let your nutritionist develop a herbal supplement plan for you.

Step 4

Take healing supplements that are known to support the endocrine system. These supplements include flax oil and chlorella. Your nutritionist will develop a method of taking them and set a dosage regimen that suits your body size and is tailored for your age and nutritional needs.
