Love handles are the excess fatty tissue that lays on either side of your waist and hip area. If you have this problem, eating a healthy diet and performing certain types of exercises can help minimize or eliminate them. Getting rid of love handles can make your body appear toner and your clothes to fit better.

Twist Using a Stability Ball

Carefully practice balancing your body on a stability ball by laying back on it and trying to keep your body centered on it. While carefully lying back on the stability ball, hold a medicine ball or a medium size lightweight ball in your hands at the level of your chest. Extend your arms and rotate your upper body to the left until your hands are facing the wall. Rotate to the starting point and repeat the movement to the right. Repeat these movements for two sets of 10 repetitions. If you're not used to using a stability ball, you can also perform this exercise while standing up straight.

Roll and Curl

This exercise really takes some practice and skill to accomplish, but don't give up. Start out like you're going to do a traditional push-up, only have your feet up on the stability ball. Keeping your hands on the floor shoulder-width apart and your abs and glutes tight, bend your knees and roll the ball to the right. Try not to lose hold of the ball during this exercise. Return to the starting position and repeat the movement to the left. Do two sets of 10 repetitions.

Twist with a Medicine Ball

While lying on your back on the floor or exercise mat, hold a medicine ball or a medium lightweight ball over your head. Raise your feet off the floor and bend your knees to a 90-degree angle. Crunch your body up while twisting your shoulders to the left and the ball to the left of your thigh, while simultaneously bringing your knees to the right. Return to the starting position and repeat in the opposite direction. Do two sets of 10 repetitions.

Leg Flutters

This is an exercise that will also tone and strengthen your back muscles and help to create balance for your torso. It can also help to reduce fat from your back area while eliminating love handles. While lying flat on your abdomen with your head slightly up and arms at your side, lift your feet and knees off the floor. Begin to flutter your legs back and forth rapidly, like you're swimming. Perform this for about 20 seconds, then rest and repeat.
