Bow sights were originally introduced at the NAA National Archery Tournament. Since that time, bow sights have been developed into sophisticated pieces of archery equipment that helps aim the arrow at the intended target. A wide range of bow sight models are available from various archery companies, but in 2008, the Fuse Intrepid 5-Pin sight was among the best, according to "Game and Fish" magazine. Fuse Archery is a company dedicated to producing bow accessories that improve the overall performance of the bow.
Materials
The Fuse Intrepid 5-Pin sight is made from a variety of materials that come together for a durable, accurate sight. Aluminum is used on the sight housing that surrounds the sight pins and provides a secure connection to the bow with the precision-aligned mounting bracket. The aluminum is a lightweight, durable material that resists rust in foul shooting or hunting conditions. Fiber optics used in the Intrepid pins are extended into a coil to gather additional light that makes the pins brighter. Thin metal pins provide extra protection to the fiber optics.
Pins
Archers and bowhunters have different requirements for pin size, and Fuse offers the Intrepid with two pin choices: .029- or .019-inch-diameter. The smaller .019 pins are the most popular, but some archers want the larger pin for low-light shooting conditions. Pin position can be adjusted using the gang adjustment knob for elevation (height) or windage (left or right). Micro adjustments can be made using an archer's allen wrench set by adjusting the pin set screws.
Features
Additional features made the Fuse Intrepid sight the best in 2008. A built-in bubble level allows you to keep your bow perfectly level and upright while shooting. This prevents "canting" the bow that can negatively affect performance and accuracy. Another feature is the ability to adjust the third axis leveling that allows you to make small adjustments to the side-to-side angle of the sight head. This is ultimately used to improve accuracy on severe downward- or upward-angle shots from a treestand or on a mountain side.
Extras
Fuse Archery produces a full line of performance bow accessories, and it also provides customer service and warranty on sights such as the Intrepid. Along with the customer service from Fuse, you can add an optional sight light to the pre-drilled opening on the sight housing. The sight light increases the brightness of the fiber optic pins and can be used during low-light shooting conditions.
