Since the NordicTrack Ski machine was introduced as the company's first exercise machine, it is likely that many users own an older model. As these machines age, the problems that sometimes affect them may more likely occur. You can troubleshoot and resolve these problems on your own to save the expense of repairs and to avoid having to replace the machine.
Ski Machine Problems
Ski machine problems include the console not function properly, particularly failing to turn on, displaying incorrect information or appearing faint. The arm cords can become tangled or make chattering or screeching sounds. The flywheel or resistance strap can stop offering resistance. This machine's skis can slip or the rollers may squeak or stick.
Ski Machine Problem Causes and Solutions
Replace the batteries if the console doesn't operate correctly and make sure the wire connections are secure. Detach the arm cords and untangle them if they become tangled. Check the pulley assembly order and confirm all parts are present if it starts to make noises. Tighten and check the resistance strap's routing if its resistance reduces. If the skis start to slip, wipe off excess oil and clean the bottom of the skis with a dry cloth. Lubricate the resistance pad and rollers every few months, especially when you notice noise coming from these parts.
Icon Health and Fitness, the company behind the NordicTrack brand, only warrants its NordicTrack Ski machines for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty coverage includes both parts and labor. As an older NordicTrack Ski machine owner you will not have warranty coverage but should still contact NordicTrack for assistance and repair options if you are unable to resolve problems on your own.
