If you're allergic to fish oil omega-3 supplements, your immune system is hypersensitive to the proteins found in fish. MedlinePlus states that fish oil omega-3 supplements are not recommended for people who've been diagnosed with a fish allergy. Although most of the fish proteins are removed from the supplement, traces or by-products of the proteins may be present. Fish allergies are commonly related to severe allergic reactions and need to be managed alongside a doctor's supervision.
