HIV stands for human immune deficiency virus and is the virus that causes AIDS. HIV can be identified by its early symptoms that warn the body of the presence of the infection.
Fatigue
Medline Plus suggests that one early sign of HIV infection is extreme tiredness and fatigue. This is because the body's own immune system is trying to fight off infection.
Sores
According to the Mayo Clinic, open sores that are found in the mouth that appear to be lesions can be an early indication of HIV. A fungal infection such a yeast infection can also be noticeable by foul-smelling breath and patches of white on the tongue and interior of the mouth.
Swollen Lymph Nodes
Medline Plus states that the presence of swollen lymph nodes, especially those on the sides of the neck and under the arms can be an early sign of an HIV infection.
Night Sweats
Perfuse sweating--especially at night can be an early symptom of HIV. The American Family Physician reports that those infected with HIV report sweating that is severe enough to have to change their clothes.
Seborrheic Dermatitis
According to Merck, seborrheic dermatitis is common with those who have HIV. It is a type of rash that resembles a yellow, brownish crust that forms on the scalp and on creases in the skin.
