Barry's Vitamins & Herbs has been a key stop in Boca Raton, Florida for health aficionados since the late 1990s. The business has grown considerably and even carries its own line of supplements. Founder Barry Nevins has also expanded the services provided at the store to include health screenings and natural beauty products.

The Shop

Barry's Vitamins & Herbs is located at 3551 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton, along a busy stretch of road near downtown Boca Raton and not far from Lake Rogers and Spanish River Park. The shop is around 3,000 square feet and there is a warehouse, too. As of January 2011, the shop is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Barry's is closed on Sunday. The store is near a mix of other retail shops and restaurants.

Origins and Growth

Barry's Vitamins & Herbs got its start in 1998 when Barry Nevins opened what was primarily just a vitamin store in Boca Raton, Florida. However, it went on to provide many more products and services than pills. For example, in 2003, Barry's added a healthy foods section featuring fresh breads, soups, seasonings, juices and Atkins Low Carb products. According to the 2010 "Hoover's" business report, the store has seven employees.

About Barry

Barry Nevins, CNC, NP, became a certified nutritional consultant in 1986 and is certified by the American Association of Nutritional Consultants. Nevins is also a host on "Barry's Supplement Hour," a daily radio show carried on WWNN, the Wealth and Health Network, which is broadcast right from the store in Boca Raton.

Products and Services

Not satisfied to be just a vitamin, supply and health food store, Barry's offers an array of services, ranging from stroke and heart attack screenings to Cardio Vision screenings. The products available are aimed to help with weight loss, digestion, men's health, women's health, stress reduction and immune support. The products include Barry's own line of supplements, as well as brand names, too.
