Caring for yourself daily prevents those ups and downs that result in weight gain and minor health problems. An ongoing healthy lifestyle will make it easier to be active and perform well at school or work. When your days are productive, you're more likely to get the most out of relaxation.
Stay Active
Form a regular exercise program for most days of the week. Stick with it by varying the intensity and switching activities occasionally. Inadequate sleep raises your risk for illness and accidental injury, with depression and drowsy driving incidents two possible results. To avoid a sleep debt and encourage your body's rejuvenative functions at night, pick a set bedtime and get ready for bed by listening to soothing music, stretching or reading.
Control Stress
Incorporate stress-management techniques into your daily routine to prevent unhealthy reactions to stress. Set aside a time and favorite activity to help you unwind, connect with others, have fun and appreciate life. The National Institutes of Health, or NIH, point out that managing stress maintains a healthy immune system and positive mental attitude. This, in turn, supports physical health, for a well-rounded quality of life.
