A head cold is an infection that hides in the mucus membranes of the nose. Its symptoms typically include headaches, stuffiness, a runny nose and watery eyes. While colds are a common nuisance, they usually don't last very long, coming and going in a few days. Yet there are ways to shorten still the length of time a cold virus lingers in the body. Well known cold fighters are garlic and also lemon, boosting the immune system and combating viruses. Honey is also good for colds, carrying antibacterial properties and soothing the throat. When these ingredients are combined, they make a powerful potion for fighting colds.
Step 1
Peel and cut three garlic cloves in half and squeeze the juice from one lemon into a cup. Strain the juice into another cup and combine the three ingredients with 3 cups of water in a saucepan.
Step 2
Set the pan on the stove and bring to a boil. Turn off or remove the pan from heat as soon as the water begins to boil.
Step 3
Add 1/2 cup of strained lemon juice and 1/2 cup of honey to the pan and stir. Sip this concoction up to three times a day until the cold symptoms disappear.
