Indoor water parks can be excellent entertainment for families and friends of all ages, especially during winter or bad weather. Some water parks include extensive accommodations, such as multiple types of slides, wave pools and hot tubs. Some can be expensive and might even require hotel stays. Indiana offers four indoor water parks.
Caribbean Cove
Located in downtown Indianapolis near the Children's Museum and the Indianapolis Zoo, Caribbean Cove offers 50,000 feet of fun. The park includes a leisure river, spas and interactive island activity for children. Slides include one that is more than 388 feet long and one that whips sliders outside before sending them back inside into the main pool. Caribbean Cove also has an arcade, a cafe and an attached hotel. Only hotel guests who choose a water park pass will be guaranteed entry to the park, but passes may be purchased on a space availability basis.
Splash Universe
Splash Universe is another indoor water park resort in Shipshewana. According to Splash Universe's website, booking your stay gets you complimentary breakfast, games and activities, and passes into the water park, although day passes to the water park also are available. This water park includes a leisure river, water slides, a 500-gallon splash bucket, an arcade and restaurants. Large conference rooms are available for rent for parties or other gatherings.
Big Splash Adventure
According to UltimateWaterpark.com, this French Lick resort includes 154 rooms with restaurants, an arcade, a bar and a fitness center. The water park is a 40,000-square-foot building with a retractable glass roof that is closed to allow only sunlight in during bad or cold weather and opened when it is nice outside. Big Splash Adventure is pirate-themed, with rides and slides like Jolly Roger Jetty and Silver Beard's Revenge. Big Splash Adventure also has an adults-only pool and children-only pools. Some day passes are available for purchase, but reserving a stay in the hotel will guarantee admission.
Indy Island Aquatic Center
Indy Island is an indoor water park that is cheaper and smaller than other resorts in Indiana. Located in Indianapolis, Indy Island entrance fees are low and visitors may stop in without a hotel reservation. According to IndoorWaterparks.net, Indy Island has a small, 3-foot deep pool; a water playhouse with a slide; features that spray and pour water; an adult hot tub; and relatively small water slides.
