Razor is a brand name of scooter that has helped to resurrect these small vessels through the first decade of the 2000's. Riding a scooter is a fun way to get form one place to the next, and you don't necessarily have to be a kid to enjoy one. Razor also sells castor-driven vehicles and electric scooters, but it is with the classic scooter that has made the company so well known.
Company
Razor was started in 2000 in Cerritas, California. The company entered the marketplace with the kick scooter, and strived to combine quality materials with technology and rigid safety standards. The skateboard/surfing culture in California received the scooters well, and the company was on its way.
Awards
Since the first years of the company, Razor has been winning awards for best toy or best selling toy. Some of the places that have bestowed some sort of honor on Razor include, Toys 'R' Us, "Sports Illustrated," Nick Jr., "Time," "Parenting," "Money," "In Style" and "Forbes."
Safety Measures
Razor is serious about the safety of riders, and takes measures to advise and educate when possible. The website advises riders to wear padding similar to skateboarding or biking, and to stay off scooters until they have been riding a two-wheel bike for at least six months. Razor also cautions riders to watch the terrain as they ride the scooter and to hold onto the handlebars securely at all times.
Scooters
Razor scooters have evolved to include several different styles and designs. The scooters vary in price slightly but are all less than $100. Smaller scooters weigh around 5 lbs., with the heaviest being just more than 11 lbs. Some of the model names include the A, A3, Lil' Kick, Cruiser, Hello Kitty, Spark, Pro Model and Sweet Pea A.
