The LifeGear Advantage exercise bike is an in-home stationary bike. These bikes are similar to upright exercise bikes with a few mechanical and design differences. They have a fixed wheel that makes them similar to fixed-gear road bikes. The LifeGear Advantage bike is a midrange bike with basic features.
Design
The LifeGear Advantage is made of steel. It is black with a few silver highlights, including the exposed flywheel. This is an older model stationary bike. Newer LifeGear bikes are blue or red. Transport wheels on the front of the bike allow you to easily move it to a different room or storage area. The flywheel mechanism features direct-gear drive, which eliminates dead spots in the pedal motion.
Specifications
The bike is 60 inches long, 18 inches wide and 48 inches wide. It has a 24-pound flywheel and can handle user weights up to 350 pounds. The handlebars and seat are adjustable to accommodate users of different heights and sizes. The seat can be moved vertically and horizontally. The handlebars are adjustable up and down.
Features
The exercise bike has basic features like a water-bottle holder positioned close to the seat for easy access. The flywheel resistance is manually adjustable with a knob on the frame. The Advantage has an emergency brake for quick stopping of the flywheel. A one-year warranty is provided by the manufacturer. An electronic console provides basic feedback about your workout, including elapsed time, distance and speed.
Price and Availability
The LifeGear Advantage exercise bike is no longer available on the manufacturer's website and is sold out at most online stores. The last listed price, as of January 2011, is about $500. You may be able to find this model on online auctions or as a used machine. It has been replaced by newer LifeGear models.
