Callaway Golf is one of the most recognizable names in the golf equipment industry, predominately known for their powerful drivers. Off the tee box, the company produces many lines of quality irons for players at all skill levels. The length of these various irons can affect their playability, depending on your skill and consistency as a golfer.
X-22
The Callaway X-22 irons are among the company's most popular clubs, repeatedly being named to "Golf Digest" magazine's annual "Hot List." The length of the clubs range from 39 inches on the 3-iron to 35 1/2 inches on the pitching wedge. The X-22 line of clubs has a moderate length to offer a combination of forgiveness and touch that both experienced and amateur players can benefit from.
X-Forged
The X-Forged irons from Callaway offer a more solid feel and must less forgiveness. Designed only for the most elite golfers, the 2-iron is the longest club available in the line, measuring 39 1/2 inches. Each successive club is shortened by a half-inch, concluding with the pitching wedge at 35 1/2 inches. The length and solid forging of these irons caused "Golf" magazine to call them one of its "highest rated" irons.
X-24 Hot
In 2010, Callaway released its latest update to the X-series of irons, the X-24 Hot Irons. Apart from drastic changes in the loft of the clubs, Callaway added 1/2 inch to the shaft length of the X-22 irons when designing these clubs. Within the X-24 line, the 4-iron is the longest club at 38 1/2 inches, while the shortest club is the sand wedge at 35 1/4 inches. If the Hot Irons are purchased with Callaway graphite shafts, all of the clubs are an additional 1/4 inch long.
Diablo Edge
The Diablo Edge irons are designed with amateur players in mind. Though the clubs have the same lengths as the X-22 irons, they have a lowered center of gravity to increase the size of the "sweet spot," thus making them easier for amateurs to hit. The Diablo Edge line additionally features a sand wedge and a lob wedge at 35 1/4 and 35 inches, respectively.
