1. Make Yourself Lighter
As the name implies, a liquitarian diet is one that relies solely on liquids for nutrition. Most people use this type of diet as a fast. In ancient Asian traditions, people called this process of fasting "langhana," which means "making one lighter." When done correctly, a liquid fast can make you feel more energized and can help you to shed some unwanted pounds.
2. Three Days or Less on Your Own
For best results, see a nutritionist before starting a liquitarian diet. A nutritionist can help you to determine what liquids you should be drinking based on your age, body size and activity level. If you are doing this on your own, limit your liquid diet to 3 days. Longer fasts can be disruptive to the body. Some people find that 1-day fasts each week have a gentler and more consistent effect on energy levels and weight loss.
3. A Juicer is a Must
Get a juicer. There are many different types of juicers. Centrifugal and rotary juicers are effective and less expensive than electrical grinders with mechanical presses. Liquefiers and blenders are not juicers because they don't remove the pulp from the fruit. Fresh, raw fruit and vegetable juices form the basis of the liquitarian diet. Bottled juices contain lots of added sugars. Additionally, juices lose many of their nutrients within 15 minutes of extraction. If you have a juicer, you can experiment with different combinations of fruits and vegetables. You'll be getting a lot of nutrients while giving your digestive system a rest.
4. Throw Out Your Vegetables
You can also drink broth while on a liquitarian diet. You can make nutritious vegetable broth by placing vegetables and water in a pot and simmering on the stove for several hours. Then, strain the mixture, saving the broth. You can discard the vegetables, since they have fulfilled their purpose by providing nutrients for the broth. Remember to carefully clean your vegetables before cooking them, and to remove the skins and roots from root vegetables.
5. Don't Forget the Water
Clean clear water is also an important part of the liquitarian diet. You should consume at least twice your body weight in ounces per day. Some people use bottled water, but filtered tap water is best. Adding a squeeze of lemon juice to water can make it more appetizing and nutritious. You can also add some fruit juice to water.
