Nutrition Information for Gatorade Powder

Gatorade products, including the powder and powder sticks, are designed to help athletes replenish the electrolytes and fluid lost during a workout. The powder and powder sticks contain three times the potassium and twice the sodium as the regular Gatorade product, according to Gatorade's website. However, these products do not provide as many other nutrients, vitamins or minerals as some of Gatorade's other products.

Serving Size

The serving size of Gatorade Powder is 1 1/3 tablespoons, which is approximately 16 g. The serving size of Gatorade Powder Sticks is half a pouch. Each serving is typically mixed with 8 ounces of water. Using less or more than the recommended amount of powder will alter the nutrition fact amounts.

Nutrition Facts

The Gatorade Endurance Formula Powder and the Powder Sticks contain 50 calories per serving. Each serving has 200 mg of sodium, which is about 8 percent of the FDA recommended daily value, based on a 2,000-calorie diet. Each serving also has 90 mg of potassium, which is approximately 3 percent of the daily value. The total amount of carbohydrates in Gatorade Powder or Powder Sticks is 14 g, or approximately 5 percent of the daily value. These carbohydrates all come from sugars, and there is no dietary fiber in the product. These products do not contain any fat or protein. Unlike some of the other Gatorade products, the powder is not a significant source of any other vitamin or mineral.

Gatorlytes

Gatorade also offers a powder product called Gatorlytes. This product is formulated for athletes who are prone to cramping during exercises. The directions of Gatorlytes state to add 1 entire packet to a 20 oz. bottle of Gatorade's 02 Perform drink, and to consume this mixtures 30 to 60 minutes before a workout or competition. Gatorlytes powder does not contain any calories, fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, sugars or protein. It contains 780 mg of sodium and 400 mg of potassium per serving. It also provides 10 percent of the recommended daily value of magnesium.

Considerations

Gatorade markets their products, including the powder and powder sticks, to contain a specialized blend of electrolytes and carbohydrates. The main electrolytes present in Gatorade powders are sodium, chloride and potassium, according to the official Gatorade website. This combination of electrolytes may increase thirst. Gatorade powders use carbohydrates, instead of caffeine, to provide energy.
