An impacted colon is a colon backed up with fecal matter that is compressed within the colon walls. This is due mainly to poor diet and lack of proper elimination. Symptoms include fatigue due to over-toxicity of the body, abdominal discomfort and difficulty going to the bathroom. A thin stool is also an indication, as the walls are so clogged only a thin passageway remains in the colon. For those reasons, a good flushing of the colon is necessary, which might be possible to do with some common household items. While this method is natural, it should be discussed with a doctor first before attempting. Those with kidney problems, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes are strongly urged to try another method, or to consult with a physician first. Though the majority of salt passes straight through the bowels, there is still a significant spike of sodium levels in the body that could affect these illnesses.
Step 1
Choose a morning that is free from duties and physical activity. Three hours will be enough for the entire process from start to finish. Do not eat anything that morning until after the cleanse.
Step 2
Purchase unrefined sea salt and purified water from the local grocery store. Another choice would be a health or natural foods store. These tend to be more expensive, but there is a peace of mind knowing their products contain little to no chemicals or additives and are grown under organic conditions. Leave the water on the counter so it can get to room temperature. Warm water eases the digestive system better than cold.
Step 3
Mix two teaspoons of the salt with a quart of water in a tall glass or container and drink all at once. If the mixture is too hard to chug, try using a straw. It gives the mind the illusion of drinking less. Elimination should begin within an hour or so. Give the body at least 2 hours before resuming everyday activities. The warm water and salt will keep the colon extracting moisture and several eliminations may be needed.
Tips and Warnings
- A cup of laxative tea will loosen fecal matter and aid in the morning flush. Try not to pass gas except when on the toilet, as liquid may be in place of gas. If elimination doesn't ensue after one hour, drink another glass but add more salt.
