Garlic is a member of the onion family and is used all over the world as an ingredient in cooking. Additionally, it is used medicinally because of its powerful antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties that combat illness. The list of remedies using garlic is long, ranging from treating kidney and bladder problems, to fighting high blood pressure and heart disease. It is also popular for fighting and preventing colds and sinus problems. A simple yet effective nasal drop can be made using garlic and purified water.

Step 1

Peel a whole garlic bulb. Crush the cloves using a garlic press, holding it above a glass to catch the juice. The garlic fibers can be eaten as is, sprinkled onto food or soups to assist in the cleansing process, stored in the refrigerator or discarded. Mix the juice with twice as much water.

Step 2

Clear the nose by blowing thoroughly to prevent any obstruction for the mixture. Use an eye dropper to extract enough liquid for a few drops. Lie down facing up and apply one drop into both nostrils. If the burn is not too intense, add two more drops to each nostril. Stay lying down for a couple of minutes to let the mixture run down through the nose.
