Many alternative spiritual practitioners, such as Reiki or aura and chakra healers believe that chakras are invisible energy centers thought to resemble a spinning wheel, according to the Chopra Center. These practitioners believe that there are seven main chakras and various secondary chakras located on your body that are responsible for maintaining physical, psychological and spiritual health. When you send chakra to a specific area of your body, you are actually sending "chi," also known as energy or the invisible life force, to help promote balance and wellness. According to some practitioners like author Tom Deliso in an article for Wisdomsdoor, sending energy to the chakra in your feet can keep energy flowing freely throughout your body and help you to stay grounded.
Step 1
Put on comfortable clothing or loosen any constricting articles such as belts, pants buckles or zippers, scarves and shoes.
Step 2
Sit in a relaxed position with your hands resting in your lap or lie down on the floor with your arms by your sides. Allow your breathing to become slow and deep without forcing the breath.
Step 3
Focus your mind on your inhalations and exhalations. As you breathe in, imagine that you are inhaling positive, healing energy. As you breathe out, visualize releasing any negativity or worrisome thoughts. Allow your muscles to become limp and relaxed.
Step 4
Imagine the seven major chakras of your body. According to author David Pond in his book, "Chakras for Beginners: A Guide to Balancing Your Chakra Energies," the seven major chakras are the crown chakra, located just above your head, the third eye chakra, located between your eyebrows, the throat chakra, the heart chakra, the solar plexus chakra, located just above your stomach, the sacral chakra, located near your hip and genital areas, and the root chakra, located at the base of your spine. Begin with the root chakra and work your way upwards. Imagine pulling healing energy from the earth up your spine and out of your head.
Step 5
Reverse this process, slowly pulling energy down from your head and into your feet. Imagine this energy passing into the secondary chakra located at the base of your feet. Visualize the energy swirling around in your feet and passing into the ground beneath you. Picture the soles of your feet opening and emptying any negativity or energy blockages into the earth.
