Putters come two types, referred to as a blade or mallet, with the main difference being the shape; a blade putter is straight and maybe an inch or two wide, while the mallet putter looks more like the letter "D". Many golfers have a preference between the two types, purchasing the type they feel most comfortable with to include in their bag. Many of the top selling models consistently come from top brands such as Titleist, Callaway and Cleveland, with a few popping up from lesser-known brands as well.

Intech Trakker Model 1

The Intech Trakker Model 1 is one of the top selling golf putters, according to Golf Putter Guide, for a few basic reasons. The first is its classic blade design, with no frills and a traditional shape. The second is its low price, which is significantly less than many other top putters, at often under $30 per putter as of 2010.

Odyssey Golf White Hot

Odyssey Golf, which is owned by Callaway, is well known for its White Hot model of putter, which is a top seller year after year. Specifically, the White Hot XG SRT 2-Ball was also named a top seller by Golf Putter Guide. The White Hot has a two-ball weighted balance system in the club head, with a weighted ring around the outside of the club head. This provides the needed balance for both short and long putts.

Cleveland Classic #1

Another simple, basic design is why the Classic #1 is a top selling putter, according to Golf Putter Guide. The putter is usually very affordable, often under $75 as of 2010, and is a best seller due to its solid core and smooth putts.

Odyssey White Ice

The White Ice is not only a best seller, according to Golf Putter Guide, but a highly rated putter, earning a gold medal on the 2010 Golf Digest Hot List. The street price of these is often right around $180 as of 2010, but it received a perfect five out of five stars in both performance and innovation from Golf Digest.

Titleist Scotty Cameron

The Scotty Cameron putter produced by Titleist is one of the most popular models of putter on the PGA Tour, making it a top seller for golfers trying to emulate their favorite pros. The Scotty Cameron is a blade putter that comes in a number of different style, with a price tag often upward of $300 as of 2010. The putter has interchangeable sole weights, so that you can customize exactly how much you'd like your putter to weigh.

Ping Anser

The Ping Anser is a classic putter that has been around for over 50 years, and it has been replicated by other brands for years. It is a blade putter, after which models such as the Scotty Cameron and others are designed. The Anser features a cavity back for balance and stability, and a two-piece insert for a clean impact with the ball.
