A Full Body Fat and Lymphatic Cleanse

Several systems in the body function as cleansing and detoxifying agents, and the lymphatic system in one of the them. Lymph fluid distributes important immune cells throughout the body, fighting against bacteria and other foreign substances. Keeping the lymph system in good condition is important for overall health. Some alternative experts suggest that excess fat can cause blockage of the lymph system, and purposefully cleansing the system may alleviate more detrimental diseases. Although a full-body fat and lymphatic cleanse has not been proven to ward off disease, it may feel helpful to some who wish to follow the process.

Identification

The lymphatic system is one of the most important supporting organs in the body, according to Cherie Calbom in the book, "The Complete Cancer Cleanse." It consists of lymph fluid, vessels that transfer this fluid and many structures and organs that contain lymphatic tissues throughout the body. Lymphatic ducts drain lymph from the body, while lymphatic tissue contain white blood cells that protect the body from foreign cells, microbes and cancer cells. Cleansing the lymphatic system is important because it supports detoxification of the liver, and fat is in part processed through lymphatic vessels.

Purpose

Fat consumed from food has an impact on the lymphatic system. According to Linda Berry in the book, "Internal Cleansing," when you consume more fat in a meal than your body can metabolize, the excess fat is moved into the lymph vessels and circulates until it can be digested or gets stored in fat cells. Berry also purports that a congested lymph system may lead to enlarged lymph nodes or glands, and this congestion can be an indication that acute or chronic infections may be at hand. Cleansing may help decrease or eliminate these infections.

Features

A full body fat and lymphatic cleanse has several components, according to Calbom. Caring for the system on a continuous basis is important, and exercise greatly benefits the lymph system. The lymph has no pump to push the fluid through the system, so it needs exercise to perform this function. Diaphragmatic breathing, otherwise known as deep belly breathing, also moves lymph fluid through the vessels. Skin brushing with a natural bristle brush two minutes a day stimulates the lymphatic system, and lymphatic drainage massage can be an enjoyable way to cleanse the body.

Time Frame

Cleansing the lymph can be an easy daily process through exercise, deep breathing and skin brushing, as previously noted. Getting massages on a regular basis may also be helpful. These approaches can also be followed during other body cleanses, such as a seven-day full body cleanse, according to Mary McGuire-Wien in the book, "The Seven-Day Total Cleanse."

Considerations

No form of cleansing has been scientifically proven to improve health or ward off disease. While following the lymphatic cleanse approach noted above may be generally beneficial for health, there is no guarantee that it will remove fat or toxins from the body. If suffering from sore lymph nodes, see your doctor, as this may be an indication of a more pressing medical issue.
