Exercising, dieting and losing weight can bring you down. You're so busy thinking about the things you can't eat and the workout you should be doing that it basically isn't a fun way to go. Without fun and excitement in your workout and weight-loss regimen, you may be uninspired and fall off ,the wagon, weary from another grueling session at the gym. Find ways to lose weight that are actually fun, and you may find you're more motivated to diet and exercise your way to the weight-loss goals that you've been reaching for.
Step 1
Play a video game that will help you get some extra exercise or track your diet and weight-loss goals. Nintendo's Wii Fit is a wildly popular way to track progress and to engage in cardio activities and strength training, like yoga. The popular arcade game Dance Dance Revolution gets your heart rate up as you dance. Even Nintendo DS Lite has a fitness coach game that will give you meal plans, eating advice and exercise routines.
Step 2
Join a dance class. Choose a type of dance that is high energy and is likely to burn calories. Hip-hop, salsa or even a fusion of different types of dance, like Zumba, are all ways that you can sweat it out without even realizing that you're exercising. Burn more calories per day to lose the weight.
Step 3
Choose an activity that you love, and find ways to make it more challenging or heart-healthy to amp up your workout. If you love to golf, skip the cart and walk to each hole. The walking alone will burn up to 310 calories per hour, according to BodyBuilding.com. If you love to splash in the pool, swim a few extra laps. If shopping is your thing, strap on some leg weights and go window shopping at the mall. Exercise can involve your favorite activities to help you lose weight.
Step 4
Take a healthy-cooking class. Perhaps the reason you struggle with your diet is that you don't know how to cook healthy meals. Sign up for a heart-healthy or low-fat cooking class to enjoy a few nights out per week and learn more about eating those foods that will facilitate weight loss. Step 5
Enlist your friends, family or co-workers in a weight-loss challenge, complete with weekly weigh-ins and prizes for who loses the most weight. Adding an element of competition and rewards to the mix can inspire more people to lose weight, and you'll have the added benefit of a support group. You can work out together to make it more fun, or make a big chart to keep everyone in the loop and having a good time.
