It's not always easy to incorporate exercise into your routine every day, but if you're committed, you can do it. Sometimes making small adjustments is all that you need. To avoid certain obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes, all you need is to make healthy meal choices and get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Walk or Bike
Next time you need to pick up a few veggies for dinner, walk or bike to the store instead of driving. Don't just take a leisurely stroll to the store. Pick up your pace and walk briskly. Walking at a faster pace will help get your heart rate up, get your blood pumping and increase your oxygen intake to help you burn more calories. The more calories you burn, the less likely it is that you'll become overweight. You can also take a 10-minute walk in the morning or after dinner. Take your dog with you for company -- he'll enjoy and benefit from the exercise too.
Jump Rope
A jump rope doesn't take up hardly any room at all so when you travel for business or pleasure, this is a piece of equipment that you can easily place into your suitcase or bags. You can jump rope at your campsite, hotel room or in a park. Jumping rope provides a great aerobic exercise, and it's convenient. You can even carry a jump rope in your purse or bag and do 10 minutes on your lunch break every day at work.
Dance
Dancing is fun, but it also provides you with a good aerobic workout. You can pump up the volume on your stereo while you clean your house and dance to the music or dance with your kids or grandkids for fun. You can also take dancing lessons either by yourself or with your significant other. Dancing can help you get in your daily exercise, but it can also help you bond with your family members.
Plan Family Activities
Plan family activities to include hiking, swimming, backpacking, walking and skating. All of these activities can help everyone in the family get at least 30 minutes of daily exercise, and they provide bonding time, which will create memories that last a lifetime. Setting a good example for your children will help them grow into strong, healthy adults and teach them activities they can do with their own children.
